"The Dogs".

These are my final outcomes for our project called "The Dogs". We had to create 6 images (not showing the last one, it's terrible even if the tutors didn't agree!) using different techniques based on the subject matter of dogs.The first one is my absolute favourite, though I like the following two as well. All done in mixed media. Tutors seemed happy and called it a great set, which is a pretty good start to the year if you ask me :) Hopefully more to come soon!

An update!

I know, I'm rubbish, I've not updated this blog in a while. Unfortunately, blogger hasn't been working too well on my laptop or phone recently, but I appear to have fixed the problem so it's update time :)

boxing research.

 

 

Boxing research- I did quite a lot of research on boxing, which was really super fun. Honestly. Lucky for me, there was a boxing match on that my boyfriend wanted to watch seeing as he quite likes boxing, so I got to do some line drawings based on that. Then watched some female boxing, which was also super fun. Actually quite enjoyed drawing them, even if I’m not all that interested in boxing…

Anyways, have a load of sketchbook rubbish.

Traffic Warden and a Boxer.

Two of my professions characters- traffic warden and boxer. Bus driver won’t fit on the scanner. Plus I’m not happy with it so you get that another day. Not my usual style, but tutors seemed reasonably happy with them. Apparently I’m confident. That’s a compliment I don’t usually get on my work, so I guess that’s a good thing?

Done whilst very very stressed. I forgot I knew how to art.

Extra Arm- final.

Sorry, the photo is awful as the piece is just that bit too big for my A4 scanner, but here is the final I did for the "Extra Arm" piece a while back. Tutors seemed very happy with it, especially the hand drawn type. Bottom image had tutors in stitches... wasn't meant to be funny really, but apparently they have dirty minds! But nevermind, it's better than them being unhappy with it haha. Done in ink, watercolour, acrylic paint, pen, pastel and pencil. Was quite happy with it in the end, definitely one of my better pieces of work :)

Theme: disaster. For a printmaking project. Pen, ink, water soluble pastel and wax crayon.

Not necessarily finished. I'm unsure with this one as to whether I should do more.

Fail.

Did this a while ago and just found it- pen and cartridge paper. Nothing too exciting. 

Just working on some pen and ink stuff, and some digital stuff. Should be up in a little while, plus some more sketchbook rubbish <3

All done in pen, acrylic ink, gouache, acrylic paint, emulsion paint and watercolours. Woo!

It's been a while... I've been back at uni for the last 4 weeks or so, and am really getting into the habit of drawing daily. These last few days, I've reclaimed an old moleskine of mine that I'd started, trashed then abandoned in a fit of rage (I have a habit of doing that). I've decided I'm going to aim to do at least an hour of drawing a day every day, and to actually fill a sketchbook right to the end, instead of moving on halfway to a new one. I have always liked how a full sketchbook felt, but somehow, I've never been able to achieve it myself very often. But I want to try and change that. These are just a few pages in my moleskine that I've filled up since yesterday- I've got a bit of a thing for sea monsters at the moment. I drew an A2 squidmonster thing in ink and pen last week whilst visiting the boyfriend (a question I keep asking myself is why on earth my boyfriend inspires me to draw squids or seamonsters, as this isn't the first time I've drawn them at his, and he hates fish and seafood... interesting.), and since then I've kinda been on a roll with it. I'm currently considering painting the first image on the second page onto a board of mdf (did I mention that I've gotten a lot of mdf and have been painting on it? No, probably not... well I have. It's fun, I like it.)

Anyway, another thing I'm vowing to do is mix more media- I use ink too much, so it's time to crack on with learning to cope with paint a bit better I think. Anyone who knows me well enough knows I hate paint, but a fair few of you might not, so I'm telling you now: I hate paint. I hate it so much, I can't stand it. I mean, I'm ok with watercolour because it behaves more like ink, but give me oil or acrylic or gouache and I quickly find myself wanting to stab my eyes out with the wooden end of my paintbrush. So yes, I've been using lots of paint these last few days, and I'm actually enjoying it for the first time in several years. I've been mixing it with ink, pen and pencil, and I'm quite satisfied I'm getting better at it. So yes. 

Things on my list to try: pyrography, and screen printing.
